Corsec Helps HPE Achieve FIPS 140-2 Certification

We congratulate our partner, HP Enterprise on successfully completing the certification process for the BladeSystem c-class Virtual Connect Module under the Federal Information Processing Standards 140-2 (FIPS 140-2).  The certification underscores HPE’s commitment to providing secure and third-party validated products to Federal organizations and global enterprises. We are pleased and excited to have worked with the HPE team through this process, over the past year.  You can read more about the certification here.

As global data processing needs continue to grow and evolve, the need for efficient, effective, secure and scalable solutions is more pressing.  Next generation servers and network connectivity hardware are foundational to this growing and data-sensitive industry.  Corsec’s demonstrated expertise in this domain, ensures companies like HPE have a shortened go to market cycle.  As a result, Corsec has been working with companies to help secure server based solutions under various security certifications.

About FIPS 140-2

The FIPS 140-2 standard is a joint effort by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in the United States, and the Communications Security Establishment Canada (CSEC), under the Canadian government.  The Cryptographic Module Validation Program (CMVP), headed by NIST, provides module and algorithm testing for FIPS 140-2, which applies to Federal agencies using validated cryptographic modules to protect sensitive government data in computer and telecommunication systems.  FIPS 140-2 provides stringent third-party assurance of security claims on any product containing cryptography that may be purchased by a government agency.

The FIPS standard, which is mandated by law in the U.S. and very strictly enforced in Canada, is currently being reviewed by ISO to become an international standard.  FIPS 140-2 is gaining worldwide recognition as an important benchmark for third party validations of encryption products of all kinds.  FIPS 140-2 validation of products will provide users with a high degree of security, assurance, and dependability.

More About HPE’s Virtual Connect

HPE’s Virtual Connect technology virtualizes the connections between the server and the network infrastructure (server-edge virtualization) so networks can communicate with individual servers or pools of HP BladeSystem servers.  Virtual Connect simplifies the setup and administration of server LAN and SAN connections.
