UC APL Services

In today’s information age, national security demands that all branches of the military can share information and communicate systems without issues or vulnerabilities. The Unified Capabilities Approved Products List (UC APL), managed by the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), includes information assurance and security products that meet rigorous requirements for Information Assurance (IA) and Interoperability (IO), and are certified and approved for purchase by the Department of Defense (DoD).

DoD agencies are mandated by law to purchase only products on the UC APL; if no product on the list meets their needs they may sponsor a product for testing.

Companies that seek inclusion on the UC APL in order to sell to the DoD must go through a complex 36-step approval process requiring tight coordination of logistics, acquiring sponsorship, stakeholder meetings, form submission, documentation preparation, testing, and a keen focus on the product details that the military specifically requires.

If your company is unfamiliar with how UC APL acceptance works, there are many potential obstacles. Without proper knowledge and preparation your product could fail, which means you would have to reapply and begin the process again. Even if your product engineers understand UC APL, you may not be able to afford to tie up internal personnel with the considerable amount of time and effort required.

Corsec Shortens the Path to UC APL

You need an action plan and an experienced partner on your side to lead you through the complex approval process. That’s where Corsec comes in. We can manage the entire UC APL process for you, including:

  • Requirements analysis and technical assessments such as FIPS 140-2, Common Criteria, IPv6 and other required certifications
  • Documentation preparation
  • Production of complete, precise user manuals
  • Completion and submission of federal forms
  • STIGS and JITC testing before your product goes to the lab, to isolate issues early, reduce lab expenses and prevent time-consuming product review
  • Compliance with the lab to promptly resolve product issues

Corsec coordinates efforts with all stakeholders including the UCCO office for DISA, and the STIGS team assigned to test your product at the lab. We coordinate contact meetings so that all stakeholders are in alignment with your objectives as well as the product needs of your sponsor.

We can also work with your engineers to plan future product versions so they are compliant with FIPS and Common Criteria, and oversee version updates for revalidation.
